Apparently (according to Jeni, whose family bought the Teatriz Cafe), the Teatriz Cafe in Richmond is no longer green (back in my Nortel Richmond days, we used to call it the "Green Place"). It's now yellow and the new owner is a former Sun Sui Wah chef. Check out my updated Mini-Review: Teatriz Cafe for the full scoop from Jeni. Cool. It appears from the photo above that the Green Grape Restaurant (a few doors down from Pondok Indonesia on Commercial Drive) is for sale. It's too bad.
Recent Montreal transplant (welcome!) Aaron Cope (yes, that Aaron, the one with the incomprehensible but cool squiggly banner graphic) has some funny observations on eating in Vancouver. Read the whole thing, but all I can say is that there is good coffee downtown (check out Caffee Artigiano and Take 5; two branches of the same Italian family both with free WiFi.
Now that we are completely hooked on Vietnamese coffee, I find that we will have leftover sweetened condensed milk that we can't use up before it goes bad. An Australian friend once told me about SCM in a squeeze tube and I am in search of some. If any one out there knows where we can buy some locally, please leave a comment.
