Teatriz Cafe now run by a former chef of Sun Sui Wah

Apparently (according to Jeni, whose family bought the Teatriz Cafe), the Teatriz Cafe in Richmond is no longer green (back in my Nortel Richmond days, we used to call it the "Green Place"). It's now yellow and the new owner is a former Sun Sui Wah chef. Check out my updated Mini-Review: Teatriz Cafe for the full scoop from Jeni. Cool. Going to have go to "The Yellow Place" and write an update.

Green Grape Restaurant for sale?!?

Green Grape Restaurant next door to Pondok Indonesia on Commercial is for sale

It appears from the photo above that the Green Grape Restaurant (a few doors down from Pondok Indonesia on Commercial Drive) is for sale. It's too bad.

Vancouver WiFi Mug lists all Vancouver cafes with FREE WiFi

Blaine Cook recently (welcome!) started his Vancouver WiFi Mug (RSS feed for those who want to automatically subscribe to updates). It lists all the cafes in the Vancouver area that have free WiFi (free as in $0.00, i.e. no FatPort, Boingo, etc.).

aaron: you can get good coffee at Artigiano and good pastries at La Petite France

Recent Montreal transplant (welcome!) Aaron Cope (yes, that Aaron, the one with the incomprehensible but cool squiggly banner graphic) has some funny observations on eating in Vancouver. Read the whole thing, but all I can say is that there is good coffee downtown (check out Caffee Artigiano and Take 5; two branches of the same Italian family both with free WiFi.

Desperately seeking SCM in a tube

Now that we are completely hooked on Vietnamese coffee, I find that we will have leftover sweetened condensed milk that we can't use up before it goes bad.  An Australian friend once told me about SCM in a squeeze tube and I am in search of some.  If any one out there knows where we can buy some locally, please leave a comment.
