Dine Out Vancouver is just around the corner...time to book a reservation. Given last year's success, I'm sure that this year many restaurants will be completely booked.
Barb and I tried the Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse cake at Trafalgars (2603 West 16th Avenue 604 739-0555)at Sweet Obsession yesterday and we loved it. A nice balance between the chocolate and peanut butter flavours without one dominating the other. Recommended! Worth the money at $7 a slice.
Gung Haggis Fat Choy (combo Scottish Robbie Burns and Chinese New Year dinner) tickets are $50/person or $500 for a table of 10 until January 23. Tickets will be $60/person at the door on the day of the dinners. This year, there are two dinners one on January 24 and another on January 25. The menu sounds gorgeous!
In between cooking, feasting and visiting with friends, I'm managing to get some quality cookbook reading in. My top choices this season are so far (in no particular order): Home Baking by Naomi Duguid and Jeffrey Alford, Kaffehaus by Rick Rodgers (thank you Simon), Luscious Lemon Desserts by Lori Longbotham.
We'll be taking a brief blog pause for the holidays! This site will be updated sporadically (if at all!). Regular updates will resume Monday January 5, 2004.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays!
If you are looking for a cookbook, or a cooking class, Barbara-Jo's Books To Cooks is darned near perfect. Now if only their website had an RSS file I could subscribe to, it would be perfect ... Imagine being able to find out without surfing when they add a new cookbook or add a new class. This could all be done through RSS.
A great place to buy cookbooks and take a class at Christmas (they also have gift certificates) at any time!
