Senses Bakery and Restaurant Stilton Cheesecake

Barb and I have loved the Stilton Cheesecake at Diva at the Met for many years. A great combination of subtle stilton cheese after glow combined with sweet and cheese flavours. Incredible.

In response to the controversy over my Golden Great Wall post, I have updated the Golden Great Wall post as well as our privacy and site policies page.

First Visit: Vera's Burger Shack

I enjoyed the delicious burgers ($4.50) and fries ($3.50 for a large) that I tried last week at Vera's Burger Shack (1935 Cornwall Avenue, 604 228-8732). As befits its Kits Beach location, Vera's is open, loud and boisterous in a good way.

First Visit: Salty Tongue Urban Deli in Gastown

Actually this is not really a first visit report. I have been to the Salty Tongue (213 Carrall Street, 604 815-7258) many times since I first found out about it, but for some reason never filed a first report. Perhaps, I am trying to keep this place for myself :-) !

Mini-Review: Vij's Rangoli

Vij's Rangoli is definitely one of the best places at the moment for lunch with a small group. Check out our Mini-Review: Vij's Rangoli for more details.

Mini-Review Vij's Rangoli

Vij's Rangoli (1488 West 11th, 64 736-5711) is one part cafe and one part market where you can buy Vij's incredibly tasty food (he calls them curries: I bet they are delicious but I've never tried them; it's only a matter of time before we do!).  It's a small, open room that is trendy and fashionable but not oppressively so.  And the kitchen is open so you can watch the action.  Fun.

Vij's Rangoli photos

I will write a mini-review soon, but to tide you over, here are some pictures of Vij's Ranjoli's awesome food at our lunch there last week. In the meantime, check out our Vij's Rangoli first visit report.

Vintropolis replaces Cafe Bombay on 1st

Good luck to the recently opened Vintropolis (check out Tim Pawsey's Vintropolis Courier writeup) at 1809 West 1st ( 604 738-2727) on the site of the former Bombay Cafe (I'll miss their chicken frankie!) and before that Sienna. This location seems to be a tough one on restaurants.

Rob Feenie 3 minute Video - On Duck fat and Riesling

We don't have cable so I have never seen Rob Feenie's Food Channel show, New Classics. I really enjoyed watching him live though. He was warm, friendly, knowledgeable and responsive to the audience.
