Saturday's inaugural market took place in our unusually warm and sunny May weather.
The vendors change every year and every week (here's the official vendor list) and there's always something new but the vibe remains the same. People getting out of the house to get real food that hasn't been overly processed or shipped thousands of miles.
Here are some of East Van Farmers Market opening day photos:
It appears that Yo! Sushi, the fun British sushi chain, is coming to Vancouver. Bring it on! Be interesting to see if their fun formula is is successful here. I bet it will be!
The East Vancouver Farmers Market at East 15th and Victoria Dr. starts this Saturday May 15. It runs Saturdays 9a.m.-2p.m. until October 9, 2004. It's our favourite market. Looking forward to seeing what's new, snacking on our favourite goodies and buying locally grown seasonal produce. See you there!
Our Templeton (1087 Granville, 604 685-4612) Mini Review is coming soon. In the meantime, my summary would be: eat there! Breakfast and dinner are great. I am sure lunch is too, but I've never tried it.
Whether you need just a coffee or lunch or a snack or a place to hang downtown, we recommend Take 5 Cafe. For the full scoop, check out our Take 5 Cafe Mini-Review.
Here's a picture of the wonderful beef panini and duck soup that I enjoyed recently:
Take 5 Cafe ( 429 Granville Street just south of Hastings, 604 697-9090, also in Coal Harbour and Robson Street) has become my virtual office. I don't really have an office, so we have company meetings over lunch and coffee there (they also do breakfast starting at 6:30a.m. but I've never tried it)
