Rajni Bala's Indian Cuisine/Relish Trove opens at Clark and Hastings with free WiFi!

Jayant Bhandari emailed us to let us know that he has opened an Indian restaurant with free WiFi (yes!) where Dosa Hut used to be at 1279 East Hastings, 604-628-8181 (Hastings at Clark). I put it on our list of places to check out because we love Indian food. In the meantime, please let us know if you have been there and what you thought! Question for Jayant: what is the name of the restaurant?

Fabulous Slow Food Vancouver Tomato Potluck tonight

Slow Food Vancouver Tomato Potluck 2005 - 2

Barb and I attended the Slow Food Vancouver Tomato potluck at Granville Island tonight. It was my first Slow Food potluck and it was fabulous just like Barb said it would be. It's worth joining just to join in and eat and bring food to one of these fab potlucks!

Excellent cookbook deals at Powell's Books in Portland, Oregon

I bought a whole bunch of cookbooks for Barb at Powell's Books in Portland, Oregon last week while I was there for OSCON 2005. I didn't get to the cookbook store but the main store had tons of great cookbooks (both new and used in great condition side by side!) which thanks to the relatively high Canadian dollar and the lack of sales tax are a bargain. Highly recommended. More on the cookbooks later.

Chambar Belgian National Day 2005 - The photos

Chambar National Belgian Day 21July200510

Except for it being a wee bit pricey (the poster for the meal kind of implied that some beer would be included for the $50 price), the Belgian National Day 2005 celebration meal at Chambar was delicious.

Responses to request for downtown sushi takeout and delivery

Check out what Darla Moore, SaabKen, Mooshmouse and Travis Smith had to suggest when I asked for downtown places that do sushi takeout and delivery. Thanks everybody! If anybody else has suggestions, love to hear them!
