(via Many-to-Many) - Add Your Own is a New York City restaurant guide with a difference. It is a Wiki, which means anybody can edit it and anybody can add their comments about restaurants and delete other people's comments about restaurants. In other words, it's a collaboratively written restaurant guide. It may sound like a recipe for chaos, but in practise it works well; malicious people are rare and the system keeps tr
In the midst of harvest season, I'm glad to come across Bernardin's newly revised Guide to Home Preserving. Like the previous edition, the guide gives important safety information and theory. There are recipes for classic and traditional preserves as well as updated, innovative ones like a harissa style sauce I'll be making tomorrow.
Don Genova has recently revamped his site, Pacific Palate. On his site, Don features his programs on CBC as well as other interesting local food news, recipes and information. Check it!

Barb and I had a great time at Taste of the City this afternoon. A perfect fall day for trying out some delicious food from 25 restaurants. It's not to late! They are open until 10p.m. so you have plenty of time left to check it out. And there's food for the whole family and all tastes and budgets.
Barb's favourite was the salmon candy with wild rice and pickled Okanagan tree fruit salad ($3) from C. Excellent clean flavours and texture contrasts.
After being lucky enough to have Indian food 3 times this past week, I was happy to find this article on making tandoor-style flatbread. Written by Jeffrey Alford and Naomi Duguid, two of our favourite food authors, the article gives an in depth overview on technique and methods to successfully make homemade naan.
I think naan will be one of this week's cooking projects.
Heather Angeard emailed us the press release for Taste of the City 2003. Some new facts from the press release that we didn't know about before: sample portions cost 50 cents to $3.00, and C, and Rubina Tandoori among others will be there. Excellent! See you on Saturday!
