Jamie's Booksigning

After lining up in the rain (under an awning, thankfully), I got a chance to meet Jamie Oliver at his booksigning! He seems as genuine, friendly and fun as he appears on his show...no primadonna attitude. How refreshing!

I managed to slip him a VanEats business card and hopefully he'll check us out. Here are some photos of the event.

By the way, he isn't able to come over for a homecooked meal. Oh well!

Jamie's coming to Vancouver!

On October 22, Jamie Oliver is coming to Chapters for a book signing session for his latest book, Jamie's Kitchen. I will be there with the other Naked Chef fans vying for an autographed copy of his book and a chat!

On a lark, we sent him an e-mail to invite him over for a homecooked meal.

Local Flavour - a new Vancouver Food Magazine

Local Flavour is a new Vancouver food magazine.  They have a cool website that is running on a blog like system.  The only thing missing is an RSS feed that I can subscribe to.  I am sure they will add one soon.

Salty Tongue Urban Deli Open Now!

Way back in June we speculated about the Salty Tongue Urban Deli (213 Carrall Street, 604 915-7258).

It's been open for eight weeks.  How did I miss it?

I spoke briefly with one of the owners and she talked about their neighbourhood focused approach.  Right now they are bringing in cheese from Les Amis du Fromage as well as bread from other local suppliers and they are serving deli sandwiches.
