After lining up in the rain (under an awning, thankfully), I got a chance to meet Jamie Oliver at his booksigning! He seems as genuine, friendly and fun as he appears on his show...no primadonna attitude. How refreshing!
I managed to slip him a VanEats business card and hopefully he'll check us out. Here are some photos of the event.

The UBC Apple Festival is this Saturday and Sunday 18-19 October from 11a.m.-4p.m. Like last year, the cost is $2 for unlimited apple tasting and other treats and there will be lots of rare and exotic apples for sale as well as games and face painting for kids. See you there!

Local Flavour is a new Vancouver food magazine. They have a cool website that is running on a blog like system. The only thing missing is an RSS feed that I can subscribe to. I am sure they will add one soon.
It's been open for eight weeks. How did I miss it?
I spoke briefly with one of the owners and she talked about their neighbourhood focused approach. Right now they are bringing in cheese from Les Amis du Fromage as well as bread from other local suppliers and they are serving deli sandwiches.
