Roti Bistro has either moved or closed ?!?

It appears that the Roti Bistro has either moved or closed in the last three weeks. Three weeks ago, we had a fabulous lunch there! This week, Barb saw a new awning there for what looks like a new establishment.

If anybody knows what happened, please leave a comment. It would be a shame if they closed because we really loved their down home, honest, and delicious Caribbean food.

Chinese Culinary Arts Class #5 - Golden Szechuan Restaurant on Broadway

On Monday, our Chinese Culinary Arts Class met for our fifth meeting (and fourth restaurant meal) at the Golden Szechuan Restaurant (101-1788 West Broadway, 604 738-3648). Unlike the Golden Great Wall Szechuan Restaurant, the Golden Szechuan actually specializes in Szechuan food!

First Visit: Samosa Garden

Samosa Garden (3502 Kingsway, 604 437-3502) is a Gujarati style Indian restaurant with an African twist.

At the urging of Derek Miller and others, we finally tried Samosa Garden a couple of weeks ago and it was just as wonderful as they say.

First Visit: Vij's Rangoli

Barb and I tried out the five week old Vij's Rangoli (1488 West 11th Avenue, 604 736-5711) on Sunday and it was an excellent 'lucky dip'!

Cafe Katzenjammer's wienerschnitzel is pan fried NOT deep fried

Dean, the manager of Cafe Katzenjammer, emailed me to thank us for yesterday's Mini-Review of Cafe Katzenjammer. He told me that their schnitzel is pan fried and NOT deep fried. I have corrected it in our Katzenjammer mini-review. Thank-you Dean!

First Visit: Nooru Mahal - our newest Dosa fav

We've added Nooru Mahal (4354 Fraser Street at 28th, 604 873 9263 and 1391 Kingsway at Knight, 604 875 1283) to our short list of favourite Dosa places (in addition to Del-Hi Darbar) after our first visit to the Fraser location tonight.

CityFood: Daimo renamed to Kwong Chow Congee & Noodle House

I hope that CityFood's re-design includes a blog component.

Why? So they can post corrections to their 2004 Annual Guide to Eating and Drinking in Vancouver. Such as the fact that Daimo Noodle house on Main Street is now called Kwong Chow Congee & Noodle House and it has been that way since 2002!
