Al (thanks!) found ChinaVista's Recipe Corner. It's an interesting collection of Chinese recipes arranged by region. The range of the recipes show the depth and breadth of Chinese cuisine: from the Anhui dishes to the Zhejiang dishes.
For our Sing-A-Long Sound of Music brunch, I made twice-baked almond croissants, as published in a recent issue of Gourmet magazine. Although the original featured article showed how to make croissants from scratch (who's got the time?!), the article also suggests making these from store bought croissants.
Two madeleines wrapped in almond paste and dusted with dark cocoa together form a little piece of heaven! The people at La Petite France, a bakery which just opened TODAY, call this a "patate" because it looks like a potato.
Since it just opened today, we can't review this place other than to say that it also has wonderful petit pain au chocolat and offers excellent looking breads, pastries, cakes, coffees and teas. Worth checking out if you are in the neighbourhood!
Teresa made this quick and easy balsamic vinegrette at Whistler! No need to buy expensive pre-made salad dressings with lots of preservatives when a home made one is so quick and easy!
For months, we've been passing by and peering into the covered windows of the Gramercy Grill, wondering when they would open. They are finally open and we popped in for dinner within it's first week of infancy!
We're glad that this eatery is just around the corner from us and is part of a growing neighbourhood of mixed zoning...commercial and residential.
Check out my review and pop into the warm, inviting restaurant if you're in the neighbourhood!
Touted as a New York style eatery, the Gramercy Grill shows lots of potential for becoming a popular bistro. We popped in on a weeknight evening, when the restaurant was barely opened a week. And we were pleasantly surprised.
The room is cozy, divided by warm wood paneling and decorated with stained glass light fixtures. The deck to the side promises lovely seating in the summer.
At Whistler last week, Teresa cooked this awesome penne recipe. A perfect meal for skiers and snowboarders: cheap, easy to make, delicious and full of carbs!
