Barb and I were walking down West Broadway today to do some shopping and bought some excellent Rooibos Tea from Herbal Republic (link doesn't work in Mozilla only IE, 2680 West Broadway, telephone 604 732-1732) . It has hints of chocolate, lemon and lemon grass and has minimal caffeine! Highly recommended!
The festival does not appear to have a website (at least I couldn't find it). The link above is to the Heart of Wine website's news item about the festival.
VanEats is a non commercial and non profit site. It is our collaborative (with Barb and I being the editors and final arbiters) web based notebook and discussion group for those interested in dining and cooking in Vancouver.
Personal reviews and observations on restaurants, places to shop, etc. are welcome. However commercial press releases and things of an overtly commercial nature are not appropriate on VanEats itself but we don't mind linking to them on other sites.
For example, if you send us a press release we will not post it on VanEats.
In January and February, the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts is featuring a two for one special at their student run restaurant. The special applies to both lunch and dinner from Monday through Saturday. As this annual event is popular, be sure to make a reservation.
If you can't make it for a meal, check out their fabulous bake shop filled with bread and beautiful pastries made by students.
Stanley Park by Timothy Taylor is an excellent novel about Vancouver, eating, cooking, the struggle to overcome your demons within and the plight of the homeless and those less fortunate. Check out our review for full details.
Stanley Park by Timothy Taylor combines two of my favourite things: well written fiction together with food! And in particular a fictionalized version of the Vancouver food scene.
We received this novel as a Christmas present. I started reading it at noon when I got on the GO Bus to go to my sister's house and was finished by midnight. I simply could not put this one down.
