SFU student, Simran Gill, linked to us from his weblog, stating that VanEats is a "a link that is pretty useful for all of us who appreciate Vancouver's Culinary diversity". Thanks Simran!
Last week our friend Margaret invited us to her apartment at English Bay to watch the fireworks. Seeing that Italy was the country featured to perform the fireworks and Margaret is a fan of all things Italian, she served some great Italian wines as well as cheeses and desserts.

Moisten slightly with red wine or masala. Fill peaches with mixture. Pour about 1/4 cup wine into bottom of baking dish. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 to 40 minutes, basting with pan juices halfway through baking. Serve warm.
We briefly went to the Powell Street Festival and enjoyed soaking up the sun, learning about Japanese culture and eating inexpensive Japanese food.
We had yaki soba for $3.75, barley tea for $1.50 as well as mochi. There was lots of other great looking food (such as the very popular squid balls and sushi) which we didn't have the chance to try.
All in all a great way to get a gentle introduction to Japanese culture.
