Tomorrow Friday December 1, 2000 and Saturday December 2, 2000, you can raise money for the United Way of Vancouver by eating dim sum at participating restaurants. Sounds like the best of all possible worlds: eating and giving simultaneously!
When I made it, it was a bit more like a stew than a soup (not much liquid). I haven't experimented to determine how best to make it soupier (more liquid). It's already delicious. There's just the slightest bit of spice to give it a gentle kick. Yum!
I love the combination of raspberries and white chocolate! Here's my recipe for White Chocolate Raspberry Brownies. You can substitute almonds for the macadamia nuts or leave out the nuts entirely. Or for a festive touch, substitute shelled, unsalted natural (undyed!) pistachios.
Barb and I finally broke down and gave in to our hamburger lust and went to the Lazy Gourmet for lunch on Sunday
David, one of our friends, has been recommending it highly and the burgers delivered. Filled with cheese, and seasoned with a BBQ sauce and topped with sweet roasted onions and spicy spinach, the burgers were delicious. They came with a pickle and a side order of thin cut fries that were accompannied by scrummy orange mayo.
We shared an order of herbed latkes which were like light hash browns.
Our friend, Teresa, who lives in Toronto, submitted a review of the recent gonzo book about the restaurant business, Kitchen Confidential. Thanks Teresa!

Last night we participated in the East Side Culture Crawl. The Crawl is an annual event whereby artists open up their studios to the public for a grand weekend of gallery hopping and shopping.
How does this relate to VanEats? Several of the studios we visited had finger foods and beverages. Our favourite food spot was at Paneficio, where they served a variety of food and a tasty brie filled with tapanade...oh, and the art was great too!
