UPDATE March 2003: We also love Lombardo's (#120, Il Mercato Mall, 1641 Commercial Drive, 604 251-2240). Same great food (since Lombardo's is the father of Marcello)! Just a slightly different atmosphere. Lombardo's is more cozy and trad, Marcello's is more trendy and happening.
Yikes! Christmas is only 2 months away! Time to start planning holiday gifts, parties and baking! I love giving homemade gifts from my kitchen, so I like to plan what I'll be making, how I'll package them and who will get some goodies.
My workplace had a pot luck lunch today. Usually these are reserved for special occasions, like farewells or holidays, but the staff decided to have one because we had so much fun and good food the last time!
2 lb. russet potatoes 3 Tbsp. olive oil 1/3 cup pesto 1 medium onion, thinly sliced 250 g fontina or provolone cheese, grated Salt and pepper
Peel and slice potatoes into 1/8" slices. Spread 1 Tbsp. oil in bottom of a large, flat casserole dish. Place half of sliced potatoes in dish in an even layer. Season with salt and pepper. Spread with pesto. Spread onions over pesto in an even layer. Cover with remaining potatoes. Season with salt and pepper, and drizzle with remaining oil.
By the way, Andrea, baking powder is exactly the same as "Backpulver". As for "Mandelstifte", I think that translates into almond pieces. I saw this tons of times on the grocery shelves when I lived in Germany but now I don't remember!
Hi! More technical difficulties; it appears that 90% of our site structure (or user friendly names for those not familiar with Manila) was erased sometime between October 15th and 21st.
Not only the stuff that I mentioned yesterday was lost, the FAQs, Privace & Policies, Colophon and Feedback were also lost.
I will restore these tomorrow. Again my apologies for the inconvenience.
