According to Tyler, the reason Vancouver is cutting edge is that we have competition, experimentation and pride and I can't disagree with that. We certainly all three of these things in the Japanese, Chinese, and South Asian community (amongst others) here in Vancouver!
The 9th Avenue Grill (1822 Broadway) has been open for several weeks now. It appears to be at least a breakfast place since it opens at 6:30a.m. I bet they have lunch and dinner too.
If anybody knows where to get hot hot wings in Vancouver, please leave a comment. Cordelle has just moved here and is looking for some suicide wings!
I personally don't know where there are hot wings here. I don't think it has anything to do with Vancouver per se, it's just that I don't play softball and therefore don't go out for wings afterwards like I used to do in Ottawa (and because of that I knew lots of good places for wings back in the day!).
Happy to report that the food at Double Double still rocks! Check out the shrimp wonton (left) and the chive dumpling (right). Still highly recommended in 2004!
[UPDATE from ROLAND: Whoops, this event was yesterday, August 13th NOT today August 14 as I originally posted. Mea culpa! I was confused because I didn't receive the email until today. Thanks to Kurtis from Aurora for pointing this out. It would be great if this tribute could last the whole weekend.]
