Here are some more German recipe links from Andrea (Vielen Dank nochmal, Andrea!): German Recipes and Bavarian Recipes. I think it's funny how Bavarian recipes are distinct from German recipes. Reminds me of Canada! Maybe Bavaria is a "distinct" society like Quebec :-) !
To follow up from yesterday, it turns out we gave the wrong information about Don Shultz (of Big Don's Pickles fame) and Don Genova (of Pacific Palate fame).
Here's the real skinny (from Devorah, thanks again!) on Don Schultz's and Don Genova's current schedules at the East Van Farmers Market (EVFM) and West End Farmers Market (WEFM):
Don Schultz: July 14 & 21 - EVFM July 28 - WEFM Sept. 8 - WEFM Sept. 22,29 & Oct. 6 - EVFM
She gave us some corrections which we will be posting shortly but also reminded us about the West End Farmers Market which is held every Saturday from June 30 to October 6 at the Lord Roberts Elementary parking lot at Bidwell and Pendrell Streets from 10:000am to 2:00pm.

Okay, I was recently obsessed with adobo. (My mom makes adobo chicken with a recipe pretty well as the original adobo recipe on VanEats) One of the things I ended up fiddling with was the vinegar. My brother Jo lives close to a Filipino grocery store, and he ran over and picked me up a bottle of "natural" vinegar. This vinegar definitely makes a big difference in the taste of adobo, and I recommend it if you're close to an Asian grocery.
While we were on vacation on Toronto, we stopped at one of our favourite ice cream places, Greg's Ice Cream.
Since the early 80s, Greg has been making his premium all natural delicious creamy ice cream. Since the mid 80s when my friend Bonnie introduced Greg's to the gang, I have enjoyed his ice cream. If you are ever in Toronto and you love rich ice cream, you must stop at Greg's!
A while back, Roland's sister, Madeleine (who is 6 months pregnant) was having cravings for orange chiffon cake. We'll be in Hamilton visiting her and her family next week, so I'll try out this recipe.
2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour 1 1/4 cups sugar 1 Tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 5 large egg yolks 3/4 cup orange juice 1/2 cup vegetable oil 2 Tbsp. orange zest, finely grated 1 tsp. vanilla 8 large egg whites 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/4 cup sugar
In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat together egg yolks, orange juice, oil, orange zest and vanilla until smooth. Stir yolk mixture into flour mixture until smooth.
