Crannog Ales

Crannog Ales is a BC certified organic brewery located in Sorrento, BC. In a very unscientific survey of the locally available micro brews, the judges (me :-) declared their stout the tastiest!

Therefore, for our wedding swing dance, we are serving beer from two mini kegs from Crannog Ales. One keg of "Red Branch Irish Ale" and one keg of their award winning "Back Hand of God" Stout.

We're getting married this weekend!

Since we are getting married on Sunday, updates will be infrequent for the next month or so!

Check out the "Other Sites" to get your food fix in the meantime.

Keep eating and smiling and take care of the ones you love!

Santa Barbara Market on Commercial

If you are shopping in East Van, Santa Barbara Market on the Drive is the place to get the best value for your money for deli meat and cheese, and fruit and vegetables.

Santa Barbara Market

The Santa Barbara Market on Commercial Drive is not the place to buy toothpaste or toilet paper :-) as our wedding photographer found out during a recent shopping trip!

It is however, a good place for inexpensive fruit and vegetables (I picked up some excellent cheap red peppers and local plums today for example), and deli meats and cheeses. On the weekends, it is quite crowded (especialy at the deli meat and cheese counter), so try to come on the weekdays or early in the morining on a weekend.

A World of Tea

As follow up to our tea item from yesterday, I found a two week old post from Andrea with a link to the "World of Tea" website published by Stash Tea. It has an tea FAQ, tea recipes and other cool tea-related stuff. thanks Andrea!

The Tearoom on Broadway

The Teamroom on Broadway, which is owned by some high school classmates of Barb, is a veritable Vancouver tea mecca.

You can buy tea (selected and blended by the Tearoom) and anything tea related such as tea pots, serving utensils, tea sieves, etc.

If you are a tea addict and are ever in Vancouver you must check this place out!

The Tearoom also offers afternoon tea and pastries as well as tea ceremonies and other tea related events. And they always offer you a free sample of tea when you enter the store.

Buy Tea at the Tearoom!

The Tearoom on Broadway is a great place to buy and sample tea. Check out my story about it!

John Yuill's BC Beer Guide

In my quest to find some good draft beer for our upcoming wedding, I came across John Yuill's British Columbia Beer Guide.

It is an invaluable resource for anybody who wants to know anything about BC Microbrews; not just people looking for kegs of microbrew for their wedding as I was. Check it out! It is well worth it!

Roland's favourite restaurants 2001

As Angela Murrills writes in the Sept./Oct. 2001 Expedia Travels magazine, part of our mission is to "clue you in on lesser-known and ethnic spots" or "hole in the walls" as I like to call them!

I realized after reading her article that we have not consolidated this information, so I have gathered up the reviews of all my favourite restaurants of 2001 (which happen to be ethnic "hole in the walls") into a story called Roland's Favourite Restaurants 2001.
