First Visit: Nuba on Hastings

Today, I ate some delicious Lebanese food at Nuba (322 West Hastings, 604 688-1655, Monday-Friday 10a.m.-7p.m. ) which is the new restaurant where Blitzen Break used to be.

I tried the Kafta (hard to pick from their very tempting array of vegetarian and non vegetarian Lebanese dishes!). It's "an aromatic four ounce portion of grass-fed ground lamb" for $7. Mmmm. Accompanied by terrifically lemony tabouleh, baba ghannooge and salad; it was almost as heavenly as Habibi's. Give 'em time, they've only been open for 8 days! But good news travels fast, others have already discovered Nuba.

Unfortunately :-), my cover was blown by Max, who used to own Blitzen Break, but not before I ate my food!

I met Victor and Jeremy who run the restaurant. Max introduced us. The recipes are based on Victor's Lebanese grandmother's recipes which she apparently cooked at a World's Fair in the USA way back in the 20th century.

I'll definitely be back for a full mini-review. Unfortunately, it won't be as objective as usual because my cover's been blown and I can't go in incognito, but c'est la vie :-) !

In the meantime, here are some photos:
