Where to eat Dim Sum 2002

My friend Denise asked me where I recommend eating dim sum in Vancouver.

This is a very tough question because there are so many great dim sum restaurants particularly in Vancouver and Richmond.

Here are my current personal favourites. There are many more great ones out there but these are the ones I know about and love. Feel free to let us know about your favourites.

In no particular order:

  • Spicy Court (restaurant review) - 41st and Cambie near Oakridge Mall, moderate
  • Sun Sui Wah - Main and 22nd (there's also a branch in Richmond which is supposed to be good but I've never tried it), moderate to expensive
  • Kirin Seafood Restaurant - 200-7900 Westminster Highway Richmond, 604-303-8833, (there's one downtown in the West End on Alberni Street and one in City Square at Cambie and West 12th but I have only tried the Richmond location), very inventive, expensive. A great place to go when somebody else is paying!
  • Bo Kong (Main and 15th), excellent Buddhist vegetarian dim sum, moderate
  • Granville Chinese Seafood Restaurant - very close to the airport, moderate
  • Floata Seafood Restaurant - 400-180 Keefer Street, 604 602-0368, Chinatown near Dr. Sun Yet Sun Garden, moderate
  • Victoria Restaurant, 1088 Melville St., 604 669 8383, (in the Hyatt Hotel on Burrard Street downtown), moderate to expensive
