It's billed as "The Everything Food + Kitchen Show" and our good friends at Ann Garber's Evalu8.org are one of the sponsors.
My friend Larry wants to learn how to cook and I've offered to teach him. Over the next few months I'll be featuring stories about my adventures in coaching him in cooking.
To start the series, here are some reasons why one should learn to cook.
Based on tanyarat's successful French Laundry lunch reservation saga (and on email we've received recently) it definitely looks like reserving in person is the way to go. What's worrying is she got there at 9:30a.m. and the person in front of her got the last table for dinner.
I'd love to go to Hong Kong and taste the heavenly dim sum described in A trip to the heart of Dim Sum. (free registration required). Oh well, it will have to wait until the SARS epidemic is over! And until I have more money!
Our friend Rebecca forwarded us an email about a benefit this Saturday Morning 29 March 2003 to build a playground in the local North Van French school featuring some French chefs. Check it out and let us know what you think!

If you love French food and want to taste some of what Vancouver's best French chefs have to offer, you might want to drop by St. Catherine's Anglican Church in Edgemont Village (North Van) this coming Saturday morning.
MontrealFood.com is a great website about cooking and dining in Montreal. The site content (e.g. their restaurant reviews or flavourguy's cool articles on cooking ingredients like Zershk) is wonderful! Just wish it was updated more often. I bet a system like Manila (which is what we use for VanEats) would help!
Arbutus Street between Broadway and 12th is turning into a veritable cafe and restaurant corridor thanks to the arrival of places like the Swedish Bakery Cafe, the wonderful La Petite France and Gramercy Grill.
I love Chinese food and Chinese influenced food: both traditional and non-traditional! It would be great to have a restaurant like New York's 66 here in Vancouver.
Today I walked by a new Gelato place on Arbutus. It's at 2636 Arbutus (between 10th and 11th) and it's called LKK Gelato.
Looking forward to trying it because gelato is one of our favourite things. Of course (as always) if you try it out or know anything about it, please let us know!
