I went to the Green Lettuce
I went to the Green Lettuce on Saturday night and while my wife and I generally enjoyed the fare we were dissapointed with a couple of the entrees. For example,we ordered the green beans to accompany several other dishes and found them to be delicious but scant in number for $8.50. The 'crispy' cauliflower was covered in too much batter which disguised the cauliflower.Further we ordered chinese tea which proved to be very weak and tepid. The waitresses were in demand to attend to a lot of diners which is probably the reason why our waitress failed to bring our supplementary rice until late in our meal.I would rate the food as 7/10 and the cost of the food in the medium to high range given the frugal amount of the vegetables and meat.

Although a departure from
Although a departure from Indian-Chinese fusion cuisine like The Green Lettuce, we had some pretty great hot foods at Chao Phraya (thai) on Cambie at W.7th They used to be located at the foot of Granville Island entrance (beside Pacific Culinary Arts Institute) then moved to their current location. Compared to Salathai, Sawasdee, Thai House I would say Chao Phraya beats them hands down on flavour, freshness, authenticy and price. It's been a very long time since I was last at Montri's so I can't compare. Chao Phraya has a green beans with chilis dish that really rocks and as good as any Szechuan "dried green beans with chili sauce" I've had in recent memory. Portions are fairly large too. But don't just take my words for it, judge them yourself :-) Bon appetit, Ken
