I doubt Chinese Mirch in New York is really their first Indo Chinese restaurant

Wonder if the Chinese Mirch is better than Green Lettuce and the other Indo Chinese restaurants in Vancouver. I doubt it.

From Manhattan's first Indo-Chinese restaurant now open

(PRWEB) February 5, 2004--While the tandoori naan, the chicken tikkas, the dosas and the mango lassis made their way to New York decades ago, Chinese Mirch is the first to bring the Indo- Chinese cuisine to Manhattan. An immensely popular cuisine in India, it is a fusion of wok style cooking with Indian herbs and spices especially the green and red chilies. The food is zesty, flavorful and a refreshing change from the ubiquitous Indian curries.

The owner of Chinese Mirch, Vik Lulla, a third generation restaurateur from India has recreated authentic dishes that draw ecstatic praises from the Indians in Manhattan who have been craving this food from back home for the longest time . One can't get enough of the 'chili chicken' a fiery stir fried chicken dish, the 'crispy schezuan lamb' prepared with shredded lamb that is painstakingly cooked twice to tenderize it and then made crisp or the 'manchurian prawns' - tiger prawns cooked to perfection in a sauce with minced onions, garlic and green chilies all of which are hand grinded for several hours to get the right texture. The 'vegetable shanghai' is the vegan favorite- minced vegetable balls prepared in a vibrant red sauce with just the right heat.

I am sure this restaurant uses poor quality raw materials for their food - the quality of their chicken always puts me off. I am from India and the only reason I have been to this place is that I miss "Indian Chinese" food. Every time we go there my wife and I resolve never to go back. After the last meal we had there, I am sure we are not going back. Again the quality of the chicken used was dicey, and I suspected some of the vegetables used had almost gone bad. Even if you crave for some "Indian Chinese" food, AVOID THIS PLACE.

There's a restaurant in Vancouver called the Green Lettuce that serves Indian Chinese cuisine. It's on Kingsway between Nanaimo and Victoria. Roland did a review of it (see Reviews section). I've never been there but the food sounds good.

Food is Pathetic Visited the place in Jan'04, Indian style chilly chicken was great. Went for a date in July'04, the chilly chicken, fried rice was awful. Host informed me cook is same and this is the authentic recipee and he knows the taste of chilly chicken as he is from calcutta. I took pains in explaining the guy that in chilly chicken, chicken pieces are never fried. He was at loss of words, as he did not knew it, probably he has never been india or eaten chilly chicken there. I request you to avoid the place at any cost. It is disgrace to call it as Indian Chinese restaurant.
