Rosle Garlic Press

Recomendo recommends the Rosle Garlic Press but I don't!

I am sure that the Rosle Garlic Press is wonderful, but I no longer use a garlic press. I went through a long phase where I smashed garlic with a cleaver.

The Microplane Grater Rocks!

I have to agree with the fine folks at Simmer Stock. The Microplane Grater rocks!

Barb has had one ever since I have known her. We have two box graters and various other grating kitchen gadgets. But the Microplane is the one that we turn to without thinking. It's the one I use for grating parmesan, romano and any other cheeses!

A fine, inexpensive MUST HAVE addition to any kitchen!

Zyliss Chopper Update

Robin emailed us to ask what we thought about the Zyliss Chopper we received for Christmas.

Well I am happy to report that the chopper has earned a place in our kitchen.

It's great for chopping fiddly things that tend to roll around like nuts. We use it for chopping peanuts for Padh Thai and for chopping hard boiled eggs for making egg salad sandwiches.

It's not an essential gadget because you can chop with an ordinary knife.

Zyliss Transparent Comfort Food Chopper

For Christmas, Kerrie and Toni gave us (thanks!) the Zyliss Transparent Comfort Food Chopper (warning, the preceding is a commercial link since I couldn't find this on either the Swiss or American Zyliss sites).

I am normally leery of these types of gadgets but this one looks like it may be good for onions, tomatoes and spices. We'll try it out and let you know. It looks cool nonetheless.
