I took the day off to journey with my Mom (who's visiting from Ontario) to the Empress Hotel in Victoria for afternoon tea.
You need to reserve by calling 250 389-2727 . I reserved today at 6:30a.m. for 2:15p.m. so it doesn't look like they are too busy. It seemed to me that on the whole that the number of tourists today was less than what I would have expected on a gorgeous warm July day!
I am happy to report that the entire afternoon tea experience was wonderful; the next best thing to having it in England.
First, blue berries with cream. Then, yummy scones, white bread sandwiches without crusts (cucumber, egg salad, and salmon) and lovely treats (a chocolate stick, chocolate mousse and a lemon creme filled pastry). Oh and of course the tea itself was great!
All in a beautiful setting accompanied by a wonderful pianist who played jazzy versions of A-Train, At Last and other classics.
A great way to spend a couple of hours! Highly recommended! it ain't cheap at $50 plus taxes and tip per person, but my Mom treated me! Lucky me!
Here's a picture of my blueberries and cream:
And here's a picture of my cup of tea:
Finally here's a picture of our scones, sandwiches and sweets.

Did the scones come with real
Did the scones come with real clotted cream or just whipped cream? I guess I'm probably not willing to travel all the way to Victoria to get clotted cream, but I'm curious if they have it anywhere here in Canada.
