First Visit: Pajo's in Steveston

Last Sunday, we had a craving for fish and chips so we indulged ourselves by finally trying Pajo's at the wharf in Steveston (at the foot of 3rd avenue, no telephone number on their website).

And what an indulgence it was.  Fresh fish, lightly battered.  Beautiful home made fries.  Not cheap though.  A large (enough for two!) halibut and chips is $10.75 and a large cod and chips is $9.  But definitely worth it as a splurge.  And the ambiance is great, right by the water, lovely!

We'll be back.  Check it out!

Here's a picture of Barb enjoying our cod and chips:

How does this place compare to MOBY DICKS in White Rock? Anyone tried both? I have always and only go to MOBY DICKS for fish and chips even though I have to drive all the way from Vancouver. Its worth it.

never been to Moby Dicks have to check it out some day!

Didn't try the mushie peas, but then I was never a fan back home. BTW, I noticed that Pajo's has another location - in the concessions at Garry Point Park, just a short walk from the quay. The queue looked shorter there too, but I wasn't about to have a second meal to judge the quality there.

I was down at Steveston today so I checked Pajo's out. Being English I do like good fish and chips, but at most places that's not what you get. Pajo's on the other hand was very nice - I had the halibut, probably the best I've had here - and I would definitely recommend it. However, I do still pine for the fantastic Aldeburgh Chippie (see http://www.guardian.co.uk/Archive/Article/0,4273,4350919,00.html) - I lived about 25km away and was a frequent visitor (and I could assuage my guilt by cycling there and back :-))

very cool that you liked Pajo's too! did you try the mushie peas? we tried them but they are just not as good as the ones in England!
