First Visit: Provence on 10th

Barb's parents treated us to brunch today at Provence's original location on 10th Avenue (4473 West 10th Avenue, 604 222-1980).

The room is decorated in a provencal style but it is not over the top. Approachable and summery but not brash!

Of course the most important part is the food and Provence delivers. We shared three antipasti to start for $13. My favourite was the grilled mushrooms, which were full of meaty goodness. And Barb's parents loved the pissaladière, full of sweet caramelized onion deliciousness.

I also had a cup of fish soup for $4.50. An intense broth that was great tasting. A fine way to start my brunch.

For the main part of our brunch, Barb and I each had paninis for $9.50 (I loved my merguez panini; a spicy but not too spicy lamb sausage with artichokes (mmm!) and spanish onions) and Barb's parents each had a pasta dish (warning: huge portions): seafood linguini and seafood spaghettini (each $15.95).

The four of us ended our brunch with one piece of chocolate truffle cake ($6.95). The caramel crust worked well and the chocolate truffle was not overpowering at all. A must for chocolate lovers!

A fine brunch for four. With a juice, tea and two coffees the grand total was $92 before tip. Needless to say, we will be back for a mini-review! The chef's menu is especially tempting.
