Moderne Burger's burgers are the best in Vancouver

Another great meal at Moderne Burger

Even if we hadn't become friends with Peter and the crew at Moderne Burger, I would still be recommending their fabulous burgers.

Juicy, tender just the way we like it! Highly recommended.

We have a lot of great burgers in this city, but Moderne's burgers are the best. Not only do they have beef as pictured above, they also have excellent lamb and turkey burgers. And the vegetarian burger is supposed to be great too; we don't know as we haven't tried it!

For my money, Moderne Burger beats Vera's hands down. (Too bad I feel so guilty after eating either. Those fry platters are a killer)

Moderne too expensive. Ridiculous price for the little extras such as tomatoes or onions to add. But worth a try.

I prefer Vera's to Moderne- I like the peppery mustardy flavor to the Vera's burger. Also I love that the Vera's experience involves seeing lots of dogs at Kit's Beach as a sort of side experience- not being able to have my own dog just yet, I have to make do with stalking other people's pets ;)

the ambiance at Vera's is certainly more beach and dogish at Kit's Beach the ambiance at Moderne is more retro cool both are good!

Has anyone been to Harlo on Cambie around 18th ?  Their burgers are in the "knife & fork" class and well over $10. I haven't tried yet, not sure if I'll shell out $15 or more for burger & fries.

no but it's on our long list of places to try

I must try this place again (if I dare) and reconfirm what my initial feelings were and that was Moderne Burger served me the worst hamburger in the history of hamburgers. I'm a serious burger eater and eaten at hundreds of different restaurants and have never had a serving of food so aweful in my life. I can't even describe how horrid the flavour was. Burger dreadful, fries typically bland but cola was nice. I'm not even a disgruntled customer, although service was slow. It was as if they had never made food before in their life let alone a burger. To add, I wasn't alone at the table. Two other friends agreed it had to be the crappiest hamburger ever. Reading the positive comments here and at the Courier made me write this because I can't recall another restaurant that has such high praise for offering the biggest pile of sh!t. Please don't even justify this with an 'off night' comment. I stress this may have been the single worst dining experience of my life.

well, kieran, i've been at least 12 times and never had a bad experience sorry that you had a different one! if you do try it again, please let us know how it turns out!

Well I gotta say I agree with Kieran on this one. Our first and only experience at Moderne was that the burger patty was overly greasy, condiments were limp and not what I'd call the crisp and fresh (Wendy's burger toppings are quite fresh, in fact), and the fries were simply awful ...... totally limp, undercooked and therefore very greasy. I can't say I really feel like going back and giving them a second chance despite all the glowing reviews I've read here and elsewhere. Although I can understand if service at even fine restaurants can falter from perfection once a while, consistently food quality is something I definitely expected of a place like Moderne that has been getting consistently favorable reviews, and they wouldn't, or shouldn't, likely have a food "off night" at all. Maybe Kieran and I just had very bad luck. But first impressions go a long way in winning/losing customers in the restaurant business. Maybe one day I'll feel differently and give them a second chance. FWIW, I've eaten at Vera's (Kits, West Van) about half dozen times and never had anything but consistently superb burgers.

maybe instead of you all having bad luck, we have had good luck! i would urge you to give them a second chance someday!

i agree Dave but if i had never had Moderne's then Vera's would be up there!
