Rosle Garlic Press

Recomendo recommends the Rosle Garlic Press but I don't!

I am sure that the Rosle Garlic Press is wonderful, but I no longer use a garlic press. I went through a long phase where I smashed garlic with a cleaver. Then, I got bored of smashing the garlic and used a Good Grips Garlic Press (which is wonderfully ergonomic but hard to clean).

Finally after watching, an Alton Brown program on garlic on the Food Channel, I vaguely remember him dissing the flavour of garlic from a garlic press.

Ever since, I have gone back to smashing it with my cleaver which is much more satisfying and the garlic definitely seems sweeter. What do you think?

I too have gone through the garlic press phase and found that the pressed garlic doesn't suit all dishes. And depending on the press (especially the cheaper aluminum type), it can give the garlic an off-taste. I much prefer smashing and chopping, mincing or slicing garlic to suit the dish. And it's less clean up!

agreed! smashing is not only more satisfying, it saves you the annoying task of _peeling_ the cloves! once you smash the garlic clove, the skin practically falls off by itself.

that's true forgot about that, thanks for pointing it out!
