Dan on Broadway: 1st visit photos

Here are my photos from our first visit to Dan on Broadway.

My favourite dish was the fatty pork with egg:

And the fresh Stella Bay Oysters (2 for $3.50) were a hit too:

NMC 2004 - Best Restaurants close to UBC

Welcome to Vancouver, New Media Consortium Summer Conference 2004 (NMC 2004) delegates which takes place from 16-19 June 2004 at UBC. And thanks to the fine folks at the NMC conference for linking to VanEats!

First Visit: Dan on Broadway

We have been meaning for months to check out Dan (2511 West Broadway, 604-730-0306.) on Broadway. We finally tried it out Tuesday night.

The ambiance is low key and soothing with plenty of room for our baby stroller too.

More later (including photos) but suffice to say that the food is delicious and inexpensive. The fresh Stella Bay oysters and the numerous squid dishes that we tried (most of which were specials) were all excellent.

Tandoori Bistro run by the Rubina Tandoori team and will open on Wed 16 June 2004!?!

More unsubstantiated rumors from an anonymous commenter. "What I learned from the restaurant manager Jose was that they will be open for business actually from Wednesday ie the 16th. It's the Rubina team."

If true, this is great news because both the Rubina Grill at Granville Island and Rubina Tandoori on Kingsway serve wonderful food.

Tarmarind Bistro is opening Tuesday June 15th, 2004!

According to this comment, the "Tamarind Bistro is opening on the 15th. Daily open for dinner only from 5pm to 11pm."

Congratulations to the folks at Tamarind Bistro on their imminent launch!

If anybody knows their phone number or any details on the menu or visits the restaurant, please leave a comment.

Thanks for the link SavouryCity and congrats on the new menu and revamped website!

Savoury City (whose delicious food we wrote about back in November) has revamped their website. Gorgeous complete with a link to VanEats (thanks!)! Now all they need is a blog and an RSS feed to complete their web transformation.

Kopi-C-Bing-Gau in Vancouver?

I love Vietnamese iced coffee. Based on my reading of Slingy Singapore? I prefer Kopi-C (which is quoted below), I believe Singaporean Kopi-C-Bing-Gau (which I think is coffee with evaporated milk and sugar) is similar to Vietnamese iced coffee. Anybody know where I can get Kopi-C-Bing-Gau in Vancouver? Leave a comment if you do!

QUOTE

Kopi-O, is Kopi with sugar, no milk, no creamer.
