Dan Dan Spicy Noodles at Jing Jing in Palo Alto, California

Sun07Nov2004] Jing Jing Spicy Noodles

Famous blogger Dave Winer and his associates like André Radké have been singing the praises for years of Spicy Noodles (Dan Dan noodles) at Jing Jing in Palo Alto (in Silicon Valley which is close to San Francisco).

Well, we we were in Palo Alto for BloggerCon last weekend and just had to try it. Totally delicious. Not too soupy, but wonderfully peanuty and the right texture. Mmm

I liked it so much that I went back the next day with Barb! Highly recommended (and so too is the Hunan smoked pork which we can't get here in Vancouver!)

no worries all as has been our normal routine for the past 4.5 years (has it been that long?) we will have 90% Vancouver related stuff and 10% non Vancouver stuff on those rare occasions when we leave the lower mainland and g: we don't have a big budget for food, we just eat out about once a week and sometimes our relatives pick up the tab if you'll notice, most of our reviews are at relatively inexpensive restaurants, we'd love to have a budget but that would make it NOT a labour of love

I'm sorry but I think you guys are missing the point. If you'd notice in the header on top of this webpage, it says "Barb and Roland's guide to dining and cooking in Vancouver established June 2000". It specifically said Vancouver. Of course this is a "free" service and we're not obligated to visit this website if we don't agree with the content. But I happen to enjoy coming in here and reading the restaurant reviews on "VANCOUVER" restaurants. And believe you me, I check this website everyday for new posts. And if there's a post that's "out of topic" then that's one post that we faithful readers lose. On the other hand my hat's off to Roland and Barb for continuing to maintain this website. I always wonder where they get their budget to eat out that often.

Yes, it is Vaneats.com, but a lot of us Vancouverites head down the coast quite often and I, for one, appreciate this article. In fact, California gets more tourism dollars from Vancouver than any other Canadian city. So while the article probably isn't "necessary" (are any of them technically "necessary"?), it IS relevant, which is what you seem to me getting at.

Aaaaahh! I wish I could have been there... For some reason, I have never found Dan Dan Spicy Noodles at any chinese restaurant over here. I blame it on my compatriots' unfortunate lack of enthusiasm for hot and spicy food. BTW, what herb do you think they put into the sauce (i.e. the bits of green visible on your photo)? Is it cilantro/coriander?
