Chocolate Griddle Cakes

On the weekend I tried out this recipe for chocolate griddle cakes from Epicurious. Instead of serving them with chocolate sauce as per the recipe, I served them with sour cherries in a light syrup and vanilla yogurt for afternoon tea.

The griddle cakes had a lovely intense chocolate flavour.  I found the texture a bit heavy, although I had already increased the leavening.  I also cooked them at a lower temperature for a much longer time than was recommended.  Next time I will add a bit more baking soda or baking powder to lighten them up a bit.

Overall I'm pleased with finding a luscious chocolate recipe that doesn't require baking.
