First Visit: Kaya on Broadway

We had an excellent lunch today at Kaya (2283 West Broadway, 604 734 0661).

We started off with Five Pepper Calamari for five bucks which featured a wonderful wasabi mayo dip. Mmmm.

Barb had a sesame chicken salad for $7 with chicken breast coated in sesame seeds. A nice combination of spicy flavour tempered by cucumber, tomato and fresh pineapple.

Our guests Steve and Denise had two curries each for $7 which they really enjoyed. Denise had the "Roasted Red Rooster Cury" bowl which had sweet yam wedges that were a nice contrast to the spice of the curry. Steve had the "Green Hornet Curry bowl" with salmon, shrimp and bok choy. I had Pad Thai for $8 which had coconut in it (a neat twist!) with tasty scallops, prawns and chili.

All the meat, seafood and fish that we tried was tender, tasty and not over cooked. Something that we are very sensitive to as I noted before!

Since Kaya is very close to where we live and we won a free sake cocktail, and most importantly, the food is delicious, we'll be back (hopefully soon!) for a mini-review.
