Yesterday I was starting to wonder if I could handle rationing the rest of our strawberries until we had a chance to visit a farmers market on the weekend. Luckily I remembered the Nat Bailey Farmers Market and I was able to leave work at a decent time.
Not only did I get my strawberry fix, but I also got my farmers market fix of wonderful things I usually have to wait until the weekend for. The Nat Bailey Farmers Market is a smaller version of the more established East Van market, but they feature similar high quality produce, plants, prepared foods and art.
Yesterday I picked up strawberries (of course), portabellini mushrooms, and organic icicle radishes and garlic scapes. For a treat, I picked up a bag of decadent caramel chocolate almonds from Bad Girl Chocolates (Kelly Boyd 694 291-9698, ksboyd@alumini.sfu.ca)--not only are the almonds divine, the packages sport pictures of 50's pulp fiction gals (fun!)
So if you're in need of a mid-week farmers market fix, check out this venue! I'm sure I'll be back.
