We recently had the opportunity to go on John Atkin's Jade Peony tour. It was wonderful! John is a veritable encyclopedia of information and is an authority on Vancouver history; including that of Chinatown and the adjoining neighbourhood, Strathcona.

Clara, one of our readers, emailed us more Napa recommendations:

--Auberge du Soleil... sit outside, it has wonderful views of Napa Valley and delicious food.

--The Girl and The Fig, in Sonoma ... quaint, great menu, a special place.

I, along with lots of other people, received my free Ben and Jerry's ice cream today as mentioned yesterday. This was a promotion to celebrate their re-launch into Canada.

I am sure Ben and Jerry's is old hat to most people, but I haven't had much exposure to it because I lived in Germany and England from 1992-1998.

The flavour they handed out at 11a.m. when I was in line was Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

We don't have a TV, so we have never seen the Italian Cooking and Living TV show. But their website looks great, especially the recipe section. Check it out!

The Confabulist has created an excellent French Laundry page in preparation for their visit this weekend.

I am so jealous! We still don't have a French Laundry Reservation. Nobody has responded to our online request for assistance. So much for the web community :-) ! Just kidding, the online community has been incredibly supportive of VanEats.

After we finished our French Laundry reservation saga, Ryan wrote in and gave us his Napa and San Francisco picks. Thanks, Ryan we 'll check them out!
