1st Visit - Umami on Davie

Barb and I really enjoyed our first visit to Umami (572 Davie, 604 696-9563) yesterday.

The room is small (30 seats max), quiet (at least on a Monday night since there were only 2 or 3 other tables occupied) and most important the food was delicious with ample size portions (your mileage may vary) ample for two hungry people who eat a lot to share. And it was inexpensive ($77 before booze and tip but including tax) for what you got: high quality (a huge step above our beloved Guu and even better than Hapa Izakaya) food with lots of great umami flavour that was well balanced and finger licking good. We honestly loved every dish and even the $20 of booze (a glass of sparkling wine, an organic lager and a cocktail) complemented everything perfectly. We'll definitely be back.
