Tim Pawsey - Vancouver food writer

I was lucky enough to meet with food writer extraordinaire, Tim Pawsey today at Sun Sui Wah for a quick dim sum lunch. Lots of great conversation.

After my recent business trip to Chicago, I lamented the fact that unlike Chicago where there are lots of middle ground (between hole in the wall and high end) restaurants in beautiful heritage buildings, we either don't hear about or don't have those kind of restaurants in Vancouver.

Tim agreed citing the (over) abundance of PR from the high end restaurants and simply the fact that we don't have as much money here to renovate those old buildings (it costs millions!). And he pointed out Amarcord as an example: an unsung restaurant serving delicious food in a renovated heritage building in Yaletown at middling prices.

I hope to interview Tim for a future VanEats piece. In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy his writing like this piece on The Guiness Brewmaster (I love Guiness).
