Strawberry Season

The local strawberry season is finally here! The flavour of local strawberries is amazingly intense and sweet. When I bite into one, I am reminded of how futile it is to eat those bland, pale, woody strawberries from California. And I'm glad to wait until local crops are in season.

So in the next few weeks, we'll be gorging on strawberries. Since we bought the first of the season's crops 2 weeks ago, we've eaten at least 6 pounds and have frozen 8 pounds for canning. The season's not long, so we have to make the best of it and eat as many strawberries as we can!

You can get them anywhere but we recommend you buy them direct from the farmer at a Farmers Market.
