Filipino treats at the New Town Bakery

After arranging for some alterations at the awesome tailors and custom suit makers at Modernize Tailors at 511 Carrall Street telephone 604 685 0610, Barb and I visited the Chinese Filipino bakery, New Town Bakery and Restaurant at 158 East Pender, Vancouver, telephone 604 689-7835.

Talk about memories of childhood! We bought siopao (a Chinese dish that has been incorporated into Filipino cusine basically a sweet steam bun with pork or chicken inside) and hopia (light flaky pastry with sweet bean paste inside!)

Mmmm. Recommended if you are in Chinatown and you have a craving for some good Filipino Chinese and Chinese baked goods! Not as posh or slick as Goldilocks but cheaper and down to earth!
