Kitchens of the Rich and Famous

One of my rules of thumb is that the more expensive the kitchen, the less it's actually cooked in. Most of the really good cooks that I know cook in very modest kitchens. Critics call books like La Varenne Pratique, "gastro-porn", I call articles like Kitchens of the Rich and Famous "cucina-porn" :-)However looking at articles like this is fun!

The only high end kitchen appliance that really appeal to me would be something like Miele's quiet dishwashers. In my open plan kitchen, we can't really turn on the dishwasher during a dinner party because it is just too loud. This is one area where the Europeans excel in! Quiet appliances. The appliances that I had in Germany and England were much quieter than the ones I have now in Vancouver. I think that when we move in a couple of years, we will splurge and get a quiet dishwasher.
